My name is Jacob Mott, and I am a systems designer specializing in combat, scripting, and technical design.  Until recently, I was a systems designer working on dungeons and raids for Carbine Studios’ Wildstar, where I focused on creating highly difficult content and challenges, intended to push players to the limits of their skills, and help them further improve.  I graduated from Champlain College with a major in Game Design and a minor in Game Programming in May, 2013.  My current interests lie in procedural generation, world systems design, and AI, though I strive to eventually be highly capable in any and all roles.

As a major in Game Design, I’ve been trained to work with teams since sophomore year, as well as in the aspects of design, whether it be systems, content, narrative, audio, experience, QA, or Scrum, and game engines such as Unity 3D and XNA.  As a minor in Game Programming, I’ve worked primarily with C# and C++, developed projects for Android devices, PC, Xbox 360, and Microsoft’s Kinect, and have knowledge of HLSL, RESTful, Networking for games, and some computer science concepts such as Big O Notation and Genetic Algorithms.  Beyond these primary focuses, I’ve also worked with Maya, Audacity, Photoshop, and have taken art and psychology courses.  At the moment, my professional goal is a position as a designer, specifically a technical designer if possible.

I am interested in all styles of games, though MMOs, competitive multiplayer games such as Super Smash Brothers, Call of Duty, and League of Legends, as well as hyperactive action/skill games such as Metal Gear Rising: Revengence are some of my favorites.  I see games not only as a form of entertainment, but also as a means of training and improvement, and in playing them I try to constantly challenge myself.  I am also very interested in athletics, such as Track and Field and Parkour, and a large amount of my time is spent in training these pursuits.  I also have interests in automotives, travel and exploration, psychology, virtual reality, and pretty much everything else in the universe.  Ultimately, I seek to further learn how games fit in the world, as well as how they can help its inhabitants improve.
